Raymond Prejean, Sr.

Erath – A Mass of Christian Burial for Raymond Prejean Sr., 79, will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday July 19, 2012 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Thursday July 19, 2012 from 9:00 AM until time of services.

A native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Erath, Raymond passed away Sunday July 15, 2012 at the Kindred Hospital in Lafayette. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Raymond was employed as a pressman in a pressing shop when he first was married then went on to get his license as a boat captain, he continued his career as a boat captain for over 40 years retiring in 1994 from Halliburton with 20 years as captain of a jack up barge.

He is survived by his wife Lovelyn Suire Prejean of Erath; one son Jade and his wife Melissa Prejean of Abbeville; four daughters Rena Joyce and her husband Clarence Bertrand of Abbeville, Mary Grace and her husband Larry Champagne of Erath, Tina Elizabeth Prejean, of Erath, and Wendy and her husband David Mier of Erath; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Raymond was preceded in death by his twin children Raymond Prejean Jr., and Raylyn Prejean; his parents Joseph and Rena Peltier Prejean; step mother Noemie Prejean; and sister Mary Joyce Romero.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Steen, Timothy Steen, James Guillory, Gage Prejean, Coy Henry, and David Mier; honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Mier and Clarence Bertrand.

David Funeral Home of Erath, 209 E. Putman St., (337) 937-0405 is handling the arrangements.
